چکیده

Abstract Ultrasound imaging, one of the most widely used diagnostic modalities, anchors fields medicine, physics, and engineering. In university classrooms, however, ultrasound imaging is often taught passively with a lack practical element as clinical machines are not easily available there very few alternative teaching tools on market. As part an undergraduate student project, we have developed toolkit featuring inexpensive ultrasonic range finder to demonstrate pulse-echo process. The primary focus construction equipment enable known pedagogic principles (relating active learning) be applied subject area ultrasound. Although operating at acoustic frequency considerably lower than that employed clinically (and therefore achieving much spatial resolution), provides students large observable effects while keeping cost minimum. Completed easy-to-use user interface set carefully designed supplementary material ( https://stacks.iop.org/EJP/42/055703/mmedia ) including worksheets lab technician guide, this aims teach fundamental via hands-on practice. We it cheap, easy up, portable. effectiveness impact were evaluated by ten who responded in form satisfaction questionnaires. To minimise selection bias, chose five had received no prior university-based instruction third-year biomedical engineering learned about topic previously. They demonstrated strong interest using for session described user-friendly highly engaging.

Intravascular ultrasound. Research technique or clinical tool?

I ntravascular ultrasound is a new technique that allows intraluminal catheter-based vascular imaging. Technological advances in miniaturization have produced 4F to 8F catheters that can be safely maneuvered within coronary and peripheral arteries.1,2 Images obtained provide accurate measurements of lumen area as well as high-resolution images of arterial wall components.3,4 Histopathological s...

Tool Localization in 3D Ultrasound Images

Real-time three-dimensional ultrasound has been demonstrated as a viable tool for guiding surgical procedures [1]. This visualization technique may enable a range of new minimally invasive techniques in cardiac and fetal surgery. It is becoming increasingly clear, however, that instruments such as endoscopic graspers when immersed in liquids display artifacts and irregularities that make it dif...

ultrasound as a screening tool for performing caudal epidural injections

background the caudal approach to the epidural space has been used for decades to treat low back pain caused by lumbosacral root compression. the use of fluoroscopy during epidural steroid injection is the preferred method for placing the needle more accurately in the sacral hiatus, but it carries the risk of radiation hazard. objectives the aim of the study was to assess the anatomical structu...

Lung ultrasound: a new tool for the cardiologist

For many years the lung has been considered off-limits for ultrasound. However, it has been recently shown that lung ultrasound (LUS) may represent a useful tool for the evaluation of many pulmonary conditions in cardiovascular disease. The main application of LUS for the cardiologist is the assessment of B-lines. B-lines are reverberation artifacts, originating from water-thickened pulmonary i...
